Patrick was just a child when he began to develop an interest in jazz music, but his parents instilled a love of music in him when he was still in the cradle. As a baby, his parents would send him to sleep by playing Frank Sinatra’s recording of “In The Wee Small Hours.”

He began to take piano lessons at the age of 10 and started working gigs in the Monterey Bay area just a few years later. He was lucky enough to participate in local all-star bands and traveled around the United States and Canada performing with his peers all before getting his driver’s license. He was influenced by piano players like Red Garland, Ahmad Jamal and Vince Guaraldi.

However, he didn’t realize he had a voice for singing until later.

After a few years of living at home and going to community college, he moved to Las Vegas and began studying music at UNLV; he graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Jazz and Commercial Music. During his first year on campus, Patrick’s professors encouraged him to begin taking singing seriously. His interest in singing was born out of admiration for artists such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole and others.

He soon began building connections in Las Vegas and became a fixture on local freelance jobs, and was previously the principal pianist at the Bellagio’s Mayfair Supper Club. Patrick has shared the stage with artists such as Bob Anderson, Wayne Newton and Clint Holmes. He has also contributed to studio recordings for local artists and is currently working on recordings of his own with his trio.

When he is not on stage, you can catch him rooting for his San Francisco Giants, spinning one of his many LPs or experimenting with his Polaroid camera.

If you’re lucky, you can occasionally catch him singing his own version of “In The Wee Small Hours” at one of his gigs today.
